Earth Tracks Tracking and Nature Club
We are a small group of like-minded individuals who are interested in
spending time outdoors while discovering the many mysteries of the natural
world. On scheduled dates we visit local areas in the South River Area.
On these outings we explore many Naturalist/Tracker related themes such
as: Winter Tracking, Edible/Medicinal Plants, Tree Identification (summer
and winter), Foxes/Coyotes, etc.
We are a slow-paced learning group that places more emphasis on education
and using our senses than hiking and covering lots of ground. We welcome
newcomers regardless of age or experience and value everyone's input
equally.
We hope to see you on our next outing.
Happy Tracking!
--Alexis Burnett (club organizer)
Tracking Club outings will be posted here as well as on the 'calender'. Please contact us about participating in one of these events.
"When we track, we pick up a string. At the far end of that string a
being is moving, existing, still connected to the track that we gaze
upon. The animal's movement is still contained in that track, along
with the smallest of external and internal details. As we follow these
tracks, we begin to become the very animal we track. It is the track
that connects us to that grand consciousness and expands us to limitless
horizons."
-- The Science and Art of Tracking, Tom Brown Jr.
